QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Doxylamine is an antihistamine that is used as a sedative to help sleep. In particular, however, it is used in combination preparations as an antiallergic substance. The dose of doxylamine as a sedative is approximately 25 mg, but in DroomSap syrup the dose is much lower, approximately 6.5 mg if you take 2 ml. Doxylamine is mainly used in our product to stimulate the sleep process. The side effects of doxylamine vary from person to person in incidence and severity. If any, they are usually mild and transient. Reported side effects include drowsiness and dry mouth.
If you are taking other medicines, it is advisable to consult your doctor before using DroomSap. DroomSap should not be used if you have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to doxylamine or to any of the other ingredients. DroomSap should also not be used if you are taking a MAO-A inhibitor antidepressant (such as moclobemide, Aurorix).
DroomSap (doxylamine) is not addictive. However, you should not use it constantly to get the right effect. We recommend gradually reducing your syrup intake after a few weeks, or occasionally skipping DroomSap for a few nights to see if you can sleep without it. For all sleep products, it is wise to regularly observe a period without the use of these products.
We do not recommend taking DroomSap syrup during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Contact your doctor if necessary.
It is important for diabetics to know that the syrup contains honey and sugar. We would like to provide you with more accurate information here. The sugar content is indicated on the packaging. Because DroomSap is used in very small amounts, you also get relatively little sugar. The recommended dose of 2 ml contains, for example, a total content of 0.65 grams of sugars (that is, sugar from Sirupus Simplex, including sugars from honey). This corresponds to about 1/7 part (15%) of a standard sugar cube weighing 4.4 grams. In other words: if you use a dose of DroomSap every night, you will have just over 1 sugar cube (specifically 4.55 grams) for the whole week. If in doubt, we always recommend that you consult a doctor, diabetologist or internist.
We do not recommend this because you may feel numb or sleepy the next morning.
You may get a little tired when you start using DroomSap. After a period of sleep deprivation, sudden sleep may cause fatigue. But after a few nights, you should start to feel relaxed.
You can store both syrups in a refrigerator (5°C) for up to one year after opening. The expiration date is indicated on the bottle label.
DroomSap is best stored unopened in a dark place and at room temperature. Once opened, the bottle must be stored in a refrigerator at a maximum of 5°C. DroomSap will be thicker and more viscous at this lower temperature than at room temperature, which is normal. In addition to the batch number, the bottle label also states the date of minimum durability.
No, DroomSap does not contain gluten or lactose. Many people do not know that oats are a gluten-free cereal. The reason why the legislator still classifies oats as gluten-containing cereals is that the crop is often contaminated with gluten, such as wheat, barley and rye. But our supplier of organic herbs, the Dutch company Biosphere, does not grow any allergens, so no grain, mustard, etc. There are no fields with gluten-containing grains nearby. Oats cannot even be contaminated with gluten. This also applies to the extract from flowering green oats, which contains no gluten at all, the harvest is well ahead of crops containing gluten in the polder, so it cannot penetrate inside. In the Biosphere in Groede, they regularly perform their own gluten test and have never been observed. So you can really be calm!
DroomSap and DroomSap Kids are suitable for vegetarians, but not for vegans, because DroomSap is made from 17% natural bee honey.
DroomSap is made from naturally pure bee honey, pure natural herbal extracts and almost exclusively with natural ingredients. Because these are purely natural products, it is not possible for each batch to produce exactly the same taste, aroma, color and viscosity (= degree of flowability). These differences affect only the taste, smell, color or flowability. One batch is sometimes slightly thinner and more fluid and the other batch is a bit thicker and more viscous. One dose may be a little darker malt brown and the other dose has a slightly lighter honey color.
Yes, because we work with purely natural herbal extracts, the taste may vary. This is because the taste is largely dependent on these herbal tinctures. A slightly different taste between different bottles is therefore completely normal. This has no effect on efficacy, as the active ingredients are always the same.
DroomSap contains hops (Humulus lupulus L.). Hops are a phytoestrogen and there are many uncertainties about the effect and use of phytoestrogens, especially in people who have or have had hormone-sensitive (ER +, PR +) breast cancer. So can I use DroomSap? The short answer is "yes". We will be happy to explain why. Hops have not shown any negative effect on breast cancer and there are scientific studies which show that hops even have an inhibitory or protective effect in certain circumstances. For more information, contact us by e-mail to receive a scientific justification. And, of course, you can always consult your doctor or pharmacist.
DroomSap contains 3% alcohol. This is not added alcohol, but is the "solvent" for our herbal extracts. The alcohol used to make the extracts (also called tinctures) is certified organic (grain).
